Health Economics-An Overview

Health Economics: An Overview

The pharmaceutical industry is fast catching up to the critical role of Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HE&OR) in taking innovative treatments from bench to the market place globally. Decades of HE&OR experience have shown the value of real-world insights in healthcare decision making. This module “Health Economics: An Overview” offers basic terms, concepts, and processes used in health economic evaluations. Health economics examines how the costs and health benefits associated with the healthcare intervention compare with conventional management or the comparator treatment. Healthcare payers and providers then use this information to determine the best way of allocating scarce healthcare resources to ensure optimal treatment to their patients.
The course is designed and delivered by Dr. Sameer Gokhale, an Epidemiologist with more than 12 years of experience in the healthcare domain across developed and developing markets with primary focus in epidemiological parameters. This includes and not limited to conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis, estimation of disease burden, preparation of global value dossier (GVD), adaptation of GVD to suit regional market needs. Sameer has authored many publications in peer reviewed journals and presented his research in well-known national and international conferences. He takes immense pleasure in mentoring and sharing knowledge with healthcare professionals.
